PRESENTATION : MASTERY LEARNING APPROACH
Hello dear readers...it is almost 5 am in the morning and I can't sleep..therefore, i was thinking 'ok..I can't sleep ...what should I do..tomorrow is Math presentation..hmm why not give a review of tomorrow's presentation in the blog..practically this could add on to the number of post in our blog so that we could beat "archimedes' group ( hehehe.. just kidding..well it is free promote to your group Narayn..hehehe)
Alright... back to the main business...yes tomorrow will be the continuation of the 4th week topic which is mainly about approaches in teaching..Our group will be doing "MASTERY LEARNING APPROACH"
Basically, mastery learning approach is something that you have to master one topic first before you could go to the next topic...thinking of this, you might think, ooh it must be time consuming to be compared to the direct expository approach. I would agree with that thought! In my point of view, mastery learning approach does consume more time in learning than the direct method. However, let us think about the effectiveness of it. This approach requires the teacher to think about his/her pupils in terms of their cognitive and affective conditions. Besides the learning is more dependent on the time the pupil is willing to take NOT the time that the teacher has to teach in a period of time.
This approach is useful in the mixed ability classroom too where the good, middle and poor pupils being placed in the same class. Teacher would cater each intelligent differently according to the level they are in. Therefore, the learning is much more effective where every child is not left behind. Everyone will be able to learn based on their ability and at the end everyone could be succeeded no matter how much time the pupils take to master all the skills.
Teacher should give the opportunity for each pupil to learn and be excellent in learning. This will effect the children life for a lifetime.
Well, all this is only the brief review of what our presentation is going to be...I hope everyone could understand the contents that we are going to present to you guys tomorrow...with that, i would like to apologize in advance for any inappropriate or incompetence information and discussion in our presentation..I hope you would not be confused with our explanation as well..we would love to hear you comments in our blog regarding your view about this topic as well as our presentation..thank you and lastly

Article review

Dear readers,
Assalamualaikum and very good day to all,
First of all, from our reading of this article, it was easy to understand and very good reading for us as trainee teachers. It opens our eyes by looking at other studies made by other people about teaching Mathematics to the kids. As the article suggests we should use 'computer based Mathematical game environment' in the school (CBMG). It has been proven in this study based on their findings that the kids are highly motivated to learn Mathematics in more challenging and fun ways through games. We would like to highlight on the forth findings of this article that cater our interest most which is challenge.
In Malaysian school context, it is the common things to see and hear from our pupils that they hate Mathematics, they find it hard to excel in this subject and also Mathematics is the toughest subject at school. Luckily now we have found the good case study to solve the problem above, the pupils need something attractive that could help them to give their mind and heart to something. As the quotation posted by Mr.Shahul in http://teachkidsmaths.blogspot.com/, “If your students aren't learning the way you teach, teach the way they learn.” The kids love to play, and the best way to make them learn is through play. Computer games is the best solution of all. They are playing and at the same time they are learning especially to the weak pupils who go to school just to make friends and play. Games could attract them to study without them knowing that they are learning something. Besides, the pupils make all the reasoning themselves. It also leads to the higher thinking order where the pupils could come out with their own opinion and reasons why they can't achieve this stage and why other people can. Those challenge keeps them going and motivates them to do more and more. As we have experience with kids at school, when the teacher gives competition activities where they pupils will be grouped and they compete with each other, the pupils are highly motivated only to win the game. One thing to keep in mind is, it is impossible for the teacher to give such games activity to the pupils every day, and there are a lot of factors to be considered when dealing with physical activity which is the pupils' safety in the small and compact classroom. Well, the alternative to this is by using computer games to the pupils to achieve the same goal as teacher giving the games activity in the classroom. Furthermore, computer games is more practical and less work for the teacher.
L.O.V.E the team!
